Residentials

Eskdale 2022

This year's residential is planned to take place in June, travelling to Eskdale in the south of the county. Whilst there we will once again be enjoying outdoor and water based activities.  Please check back later in the year to see how we get on.

Gillerthwaite 2021

The plan for 2021's residential had been to spend it at Hinning House, but sadly, due to the pandemic, it was temporarily closed for business.  As an alternative, and a very good one, we decided to stay more local and went to Gillerthwaite Field Centre in the heart of our very own Ennerdale Valley. Whilst there we enjoyed paddleboarding, canoeing, ghyll scrambling and even a spot of archery. As well as plenty of walking in the forest, and exploring the work undertaken as part of the Wild Ennerdale Project, we also had a special Forest School session on the way back home. A fabulous time was had by all.

Kepplewray 2020

We had planned to go to Kepplewray in June for 3 days to enjoy some outdoor activities. Unfortunately due to the Covid-19 pandemic and lockdown this had to be cancelled.

Liverpool 2019

For 3 days in June 2019 we once again had a wonderful trip to Liverpool, but with a different group of children from the last time. We stayed at the Liverpool Youth Hostel, where the accomodation and food is always great.  This time we visited the Anglican Cathedral, the Tate Museum, Gormley’s Another Place exhibition at Crosby Beach and had a walk around the Albert Dock and Old Port areas.  We also had a trip out to Chester Zoo to take part in a conservation workshop, and had a a Destination Space workshop at Jodrell Bank. It was a fun packed few days which everyone thoroughly enjoyed.

Hinning House in the Duddon Valley 2018

In July of 2018 we went to Hinning House in the Duddon Valley where we spent our time enjoying the wonderful outdoors.  The children really enjoyed the outdoor and water based activities which included canoeing, ghyll scrambling, mountain walking and climbing.  Time was also set aside to to take a more in depth look at the nature which surrounds the centre. Everyone had a a fantastic time!

York 2017

We spent 3 days in York in Summer 2017 visiting places in York such as the Minster, the Railway and Castle Museums, the Walls and the Shambles and also travelling further afield to see the Sealife Centre at Scarborough and then spending a day at Beamish on our way home.

Low Gillerthwaite 2017

We also had a one night residential to Low Gillerthwaite in Autumn 2017 where we spent a day studying rivers with the Rivers Trust, then an evening with the Dark Skies team looking at the night sky before paddling back to school across Ennerdale Water in canoes.

Humphrey Head 2016

We had an amazing time at Humphrey Head taking part in activities such as climbing, rafting, coaststeering, orienteering and gorge scrambling. We also lit fires, flew kites and went on night hikes.

Liverpool 2015

We had a fantastic time visiting Liverpool. We stayed in the YHA and visited the Maritime Museum, The Anglican Cathedral, A climbing wall, Formby beach, Jodrell Bank Discovery Centre, and Chester Zoo!
