Promoting British Values
The Department for Education requires all schools to promote fundamental British values: democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty, and mutual respect and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs. These values, outlined in the 2011 Prevent Strategy and reinforced in 2014, are integral to life at Ennerdale CE Primary.
As a Church of England school, we base our ethos on Christian values, which align closely with British values. We recognise that these principles are shared across different faiths and by those of no faith, and we promote them through high-quality teaching, Collective Worship, and resources such as Home School Values, which uses current affairs to spark discussion and reflection.
