Remembrance Day 2025

We held our Remembrance Day Collectove Worship in St. Mary's Church in Ennerdale. The theme for this year was compassion.

Year 6 led us in our worship, and we listened to them read letters written by those affected by war. we heard about how lives had changed . We heard from a nurse, Mary who told her family about the hospital tents being filled with brave, young men, tired and frightened. We heard from a soldier, Tom who thought of home in the peace and how he asked his family to keep him and his comrades in their prayers. Rose, a factory worker talked about the pride she felt in helping the war effiort. Emily, a child who was evcuated spoke of how she looked for the stars as a reminder of her family back home. We were then told of the joy by William, another soldier about the war coming to and end and how the "courage will live in every breath of peace we take" when we remember those who did not return.

We layed a poppy wreath, made from our own hand prints, on the village war memorial and we remembered how those people whose names appear on this memorial were members of the village and local community, and and as children will have likely attended our school.
